Flyers Circle Journal - in these shoes I don't think so!

When I first heard what Jools had chosen as the theme for her  cj "in these shoes I don't think so!" I have to admit I was flummoxed.

Then Jools told me about the song by Kirstie McColl , and I was none the wiser!

I did finally get an idea of what I wanted to do and luckily, when she received the pages yesterday, Jools said they made her laugh & could relate!

The journaling on the tag, hidden behind the photo of me wearing flip flops in the snow, reads:
In my 20's, 30's and well into my 40's I loved to wear  high heels.
Now I seem to live in either crocs or flip flops, depending on the season.
That's why when it snowed here in January I had to say
"in these shoes? I don't think so!"

UKS February House Challenge.

At first glance the February House challenge seemed simple enough,
choose one of the three famous quotes on offer and create a LO from it,
I chose:
One way to get the most out of life is to look upon it as an adventure.
William Feather.

In April 2012 I persuaded the Senior Partner to accompany me
to the Salon Version Scrap at the Parc Floral, Paris.
My first ever visit to a scrap booking exhibition.

Watching a stamping demo at the PaperArtsy stand
I was in heaven and the SP, bless him,
carried my bags, bought me lunch & chatted with the vendors
all afternoon.

Later on we returned to our hotel
for a rest & GT before heading out for dinner.

The next morning we headed back to Normandy but not before
enjoying P'tit D in this corner cafe.

la vie est vraiment une aventure!

Scraptastic's Counterfeit Kit CHallenge

Everyone has too much stash, right?
That doesn't stop me (and you too?) from buying more!
I'm always looking for ways to use what I have and my latest "find" is the Counterfeit Kit Challenge.

The inspiration for the February Counterfeit Kit Challenge is this great Scraptastic kit called "Chasing Pavements".
The challenge is to create a counterfeit kit from stash, use it in a scrap booking project and share the results.
This is what I put together from stash.

Patterned papers from:
Little Yellow Bicycle; Toga; Polar Bear Press; basic grey & Graphic 45.
Stickers hello luscious, basic grey
Alphas: cratepaper & making memories
Labels & pennants: L'il Trinkets & Treasures; Elles Studio
Brads; buttons; washi tape; ribbons; flowers; die cuts & other embellies from stash.

too much of A Good Thing can be Wonderful

Have you ever scrapped a divided page?
I hadn't heard of this style of scrap booking until I read Leo's Simple Recipes February challenge on UKS this week.
The colour palette suggested was toasted almond, mint green & lipstick pink.
Other ingredients to be included:  left over Christmas/Winter stickers/embellies and ledger print paper.
The example LO and page sketch were easy to follow and put me in mind of the collages that I create for Mosaic Monday over on my Normandy Life blog.
Following that train of thought I printed some photos, taken on our last trip, HHI tourist images which I found on google; added a quote, some washi tape & TH idea-ology sticker and this was the end result............................

My WOW Circle Journal - Becky's pages

Today, the first pages for my WOW circle journal arrived, from Becky.

The theme of my circle journal is "sights that made/make us go WOW"

on the back of this gorgeous tag is Becky's WOW story:
I was about 24 when I went to Italy.
I went on a coach trip, on my own
but I definitely did not regret doing it
all I could think of when I went to the different places
seeing all the architecture and the terracotta roofs
was
WOW

Thanks Becky for sharing the memory and
sending such beautiful pages for my journal

My first Circle Journal.

After what seems like months of waiting I finally got the news from UKS last month that 4 other Circle Journal newbies were ready to embark on this new exciting project with me.
We chose the name "Flyers" for our group and then quickly came up with the theme and size of our journals, we also decided to do double page LO's not singles.
Heidi's chosen theme is "favourite song lyrics"; Jools picked "in these shoes?? I don't think so"; Elaine went with "favourite places"; Becky, "childhood memories" and I decided on "sights that made/make us go WOW".
The first pages I created were for Heidi, the song I chose was a favourite of mine "Sympathique", performed by Pink Martini, sung in French.

As we are all newbies the rules for our cj are a little different, the main one being that we don't mail the actual book to the next person, only the pages.

We each assemble our journal as we receive the pages.

Because I live in Normandy I was worried that my pages might be delayed in arriving at Heidi's so I mailed them ahead of the Feb 4th assigned mailing date.
They left on Thursday and arrived on Saturday!
Now that I know how efficiently La Poste and Royal Mail can work together I won't be so worried next time when I mail out Jools' pages.

I added some song lyrics to the image
using ashampoo photo commander
I'm thrilled to say that Heidi thinks they're beautiful, what do you think?
